St. Charles Man Dies in Car Crash

Brandon M. Blankenship, 24, of St. Charles, was killed just after 12:30 p.m. following a single-car crash on Highway 21 at Route CC on July 6.

A St. Charles man was killed when the car he was riding in Saturday afternoon traveled off the road in Washington County. 

Brandon M. Blankenship, 24, of St. Charles, was killed just after 12:30 p.m. following a single-car crash on Highway 21 at Route CC on July 6. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brenda M. Buerk, 39, of Meaddville, Penn., was travelling at a high rate of speed when she failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The 2004 Chevrolet Impala drove off the road, flipped several times and struck numerous trees. 

Blankenship, who was not wearing a safety device, was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m. at the scene. 

Buerk, who was wearing a safety device, is listed as having in serious injuries. She was taken by Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
