"The Lonely Shadow," "Beneath the Covers," and "Paper Cuts" Opening Reception

The original illustrations from the award-winning book “The Lonely Shadow” by silhouette artist Clay Rice will be exhibited in Gallery I of the Foundry Art Centre for view from June 28 – September 27, 2013. “The Lonely Shadow” blends the elegant black & white silhouette tradition with a colorful world in a heartwarming story of friendship between a lonely shadow and a little boy. Rice is internationally renowned for his masterful paper-cutting skills and has won the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award and the IPPY Award for Children’s Book of the Year.

The opening reception for “The Lonely Shadow” is Friday, June 28, 2013 from 6-8pm. The public can enjoy free food & drink and the artist studios on the second level of the FAC will be open to the public for visiting. Two juried exhibitions will also be opening the evening of June 28; “Beneath The Covers” and “Paper Cuts” will be on display in Galleries II & III of the FAC from June 28 – September 27. “Beneath the Covers,” juried by local book artist M.J. Goerke, will exhibit the artistic possibilities of one-of-a-kind handmade books, altered books and book objects. “Paper Cuts,” juried by local artist Joyce Yarbrough, will showcase hand-cut paper pieces. Exhibiting Ameristar Gallery artists are Marian Steen from June 28 – August 9 and Alan Caine from August 16 – September 27.

Each exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit foundryartcentre.org or call 636-255-0270.
