St. Charles Police said the boys, ages 9 and 10, made an audio recording of the individual in the bathroom.
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed charges against Thomas C. Miravalle, age 58, after two boys reported a sexual misconduct incident in a restaurant bathroom. The two boys, ages 9 and 10, called St. Charles Police March 10 and told them an individual in the men’s bathroom of the Hibachi Grill was masturbating in view of the victims. The restaurant is at 3801 Mexico Road in St. Charles. One boy captured audio of this crime on his cell phone. By the time the parents were made aware of the situation, Miravalle had left the area. The victims did not know Miravalle. Police were able to identify Miravalle and later arrest him on the charges. Miravalle, of the 1400 block of Madison Street in St. Louis, was charged Friday …

A St. Peters man exposed himself to a motel clerk Saturday, St. Charles Police reported. Robert Rossa, 35, of the 1300 block of Brandywine Lane in St. Peters, was charged Monday with second-degree sexual misconduct. St. Charles Police said Rossa exposed his genitals to a clerk at the Rodeway Inn, 3800 Harry Truman Boulevard in St. Charles. The clerk told police he began masturbating in the motel office. The clerk screamed several times at Rossa to get him to leave. When police arrived and arrested him, an officer said Rossa told them he was a Hell’s Angel and “I don’t know who I’m messing with.” Police said Rossa has an extensive arrest record in five states that includes DWI-manslaughter, assault, reckless endangerment and vehicle theft. …

A St. Charles County man was sentenced Friday to five life sentences after pleading guilty to molesting three children and possessing child pornography. Harley J. Smith, 37, of St. Charles County, pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to four counts of statutory sodomy, two counts of first-degree child molestation, one count of statutory rape, one count of statutory rape, sexual misconduct involving a child and two counts of child pornography possession. St. Charles County Circuit Court Judge Ted House on Friday sentenced Smith to five life sentences plus 34 years in prison on the charges. The crimes took place between October 2008 and January 2012. according to court documents. Each of the three children were less than 12 years old during the crimes. …
