Track Monday's School Closings in St. Charles County

Patch is partnering with Fox2 to bring you a list of school closings for March 25 after a major winter storm rolled through the area Sunday.

March's surprise snow storm hit on Sunday morning. The relentless snow wouldn't stop falling and now many studetns (and teachers, too) are left wondering if school be called off for Monday. 1.) With the increased traffic on the Daniel Boone Bridge due to lane closures on the Blanchette, why did they decide to do blasting now? It doesn't make sense to have closures on one of the alternate routes. Drivers in the Lake St. Louis/Wentzville area do not have easy access to the Page extension. 2.) Snow Causes Major Delays for St. Charles Commuters

Thursday's winter storm dropped several inches of snow and sleet on the St. Charles-area, which meant some drivers were stuck on the highways for hours.

What once took 20 minutes took almost two hours.  That's the situation some St. Charles-area residents found themselves in driving home during Thursday's snow storm.  Thursday's winter storm dropped several inches of snow and sleet on nearby highways and interstates, which wreaked havoc on folks looking to get home early from work.  Many of St. Louis' major highways were at a standstill for most of Thursday afternoon. Trapped in that gridlock were a few St. Charles residents.  Some even saw a few accidents on the way home. The snow came on Thursday and made the roads an snowy mess. You know what comes after that? School closings. Most, if not all, the schools in St. Charles County closed ahead of Thursday's storm. UPDATE: 'It's a Mess Everywhere' Police Say as Accidents, Stuck Cars Multiply on Icy Roads

Sections of I-70 and I-64 are now closed.

- - - Updated at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday - - -  O'Fallon Police advised at 3:30 p.m. that I-70 westbound is shut down at mile marker 214 at Lake St. Louis all the way to Hwy 40/64. It may take two hours to clear. At 3:40 p.m., MoDOT's traffic map indicated I-70 closed from exit 212 to Bryan Road, and I-64 from Hwy. 94 clear through West St. Louis county to I-270. - - - Original story - - -  It's a mess out there. Today's sleet, ice and snow have St. Charles County emergency crews and police departments strained to their limits. Winter Storm Cancels More than 160 Flights out of Lambert

The cancellations include all American Airlines flights in or out of the city after 3 p.m.

The mix of snow, sleet and ice hitting the St. Louis area has forced dozens of cancellations at Lambert International Airport, including all American Airlines flights in or out of the city after 3 p.m. More than 40 arrivals and 40 departures had been cancelled by 8:30 a.m., according to the airport’s blog, and a check of online flight information at 11:10 a.m. showed that number had risen to more than 160 total cancelled flights. Cancellations decisions are made by the individual airlines. You can see the status of your flight by visiting Lambert’s website.
