Teen Charged with Stealing Stepfather's Pickup After Throwing Unauthorized Party

Items also came up missing after the party. The teen's boyfriend has been charged with receiving stolen property.

A St. Charles teenager was charged Friday with stealing her stepfather’s pickup truck while her boyfriend was charged in connection with the stolen pickup and receiving stolen property. Samantha Lay, 17, had a large party July 6 at her mother and stepfather’s house in the first block of Seabiscuit Drive, according to a St. Charles Police report. Lay’s boyfriend, Steven Scott, 19, of the 600 block of Sunward Drive in O’Fallon, attended the party. During the party, Scott got in a fight and caused a large amount of damage to the residence, according to the police report. Lt. David Senter of St. Charles Police said some items, including jewelry, later were discovered missing from the residence. Police said in the report that Scott received …

Truck Rolls Through Fence at Saint Peter Church

Police closed Second Street while a tow truck boosted the truck back onto the parking lot.

Saint Peter Catholic School wasn't in session Monday afternoon when a delivery truck rolled down the parking lot and through the fence facing North Second Street.  Onlookers stopped to check out the truck as it hung over the edge of the parking lot, held back by the broken chainlink fence.  The truck's driver, who gave his name as Jim, stood by while tow truck operators hooked up a boom to push the truck back up onto the parking lot. Jim parked the Hughes Customat delivery truck facing the fence around noon outside of St. Peter Catholic Church.  Had school been in session, the truck wouldn't have been able to park on the lot, as the gates are closed for recess.  Jim said he put the emergency brake on before he went inside.
