Lindenwood Women and Men Split with Central Missouri

Lady Lions fall to 11th ranked Central Missouri, while the men have a thrilling finish.

Richie Thompson hit 2 free throws with just 4.8 seconds left in the game to lift the Lindenwood Lions to an 83-82 victory over the Central Missouri Mules at the Hyland Arena.  The Lions had led for most of the 2nd half.  In fact, they had a 16-point lead with 11:47 to play.  However, the Mules fought back, and when Central’s Reggie Stallings hit a 3-pointer with 10.8 seconds to play, it gave them an 82-81 lead, before Thompson connected on his free throw shots. In the 1st half, Central Missouri went on a 14-5 run late  to build a 40-34 lead, the biggest lead for either side in the 1st half.  However, Lindenwood score the half’s last 3 points.  The score at the break was Central Missouri 40 and Lindenwood 37.   Early in the 2nd half, …

Lindenwood University Hosts Central Missouri in Fundraiser for Sterling Thomas

The Lindenwood Lions look to sell out Hyland Arena and raise money for Sterling Thomas.

Lindenwood University is looking to fill up the Hyland Arena for its first ever sellout this Saturday when they host the University of Central Missouri in basketball.  The event is being billed as the, “Sellout for Sterling,” in honor of Sterling Thomas.  Thomas, a freshman member of the football team, suffered a severe spinal cord injury during an October game.  Several activities will take place including a halftime video update on Thomas’ condition. The Lindenwood student section is planning a special celebration when Lindenwood hits its 27th point, in honor of Thomas’ number 27. Local Restaurants Support Sterling Thomas Fund Tuesday

A group of local restaurants will offer 10 percent of total receipts on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Several local restaurants are helping to raise money to benefit a Lindenwood University football player who suffered a spinal cord injury in a game against Missouri Southern Oct. 27.  Sterling Thomas was later moved to the Shepherd Center Spinal Cord Injury Program in Atlanta, GA.  University students have rallied to support Thomas with a prayer event and various fundraisers. A restaurant fundraiser is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27, because Thomas wore No. 27. Restaurants will donate at least 10 percent of their total receipts from people who present a flier between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Nov. 27.
