The St. Charles Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a site plan tonight for the construction of a new Enterprise Leasing sales office and parking lot at 3717 Veterans Memorial Parkway The site plan includes the demolition of the Arch Budget Motel that is currently located at that address. The two-acre property is zoned C-2 General Commercial District. Currently, Enterprise Car Sales is located at 3733 Veterans Memorial Parkway and Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 3725 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
The commission to consider a banquet center and meeting facility proposal but may recommend other actions to bar them along South Main.
The St. Charles Planning and Zoning Commission continues to look at a conditional use permit that could allow a business owner to develop in a banquet center and meeting facility at 1106 Main Street. But the commission also may consider a second amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance in April that would prohibit banquet and meeting facilities north of that business owner’s property. They would be prohibited along much of historic South Main Street north to Madison Street. The commission met Wednesday night to again discuss a request from Sheri Steffens, owner of Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center, to develop a banquet facility and chapel on a vacant lot where a more than 150-year-old building now stands.
