Joann Leykum Appointed Director of Administration for St. Charles County

Current director Chuck Gross took job to lead Duckett Creek Sanitary District.

St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann has tapped Joann Leykum to be the next Director of Administration for St. Charles County.  Current Director of Administration, Chuck Gross, announced his plans to resign in January and become Executive Director of Duckett Creek Sanitary District. Current director of the district Tom Engle plans to retire Dec. 31.  Gross, 54, is a former state legislator whose expertise was a valuable contribution to St. Charles County, said Ehlmann in a press release.  “While I thoroughly enjoyed county government, anytime you are asked toassume the leadership of an already successful organization, it’s a challenge you have to look at, “ said Gross. Minor League Hockey to Return to St. Charles

The St. Charles Chill, a franchise of the Central Hockey League, will start playing in the fall of 2013 at the St. Charles Family Arena.

Minor league hockey will return to St. Charles Family Arena in the fall of 2013.  The Central Hockey League announced Wednesday that it will transfer the Laredo Bucks franchise rights to create the St. Charles Chill.  The ownership group includes Gustavo Hernandez, Alfonso Aruindegul and Glenn Hart, all three businessmen based in Laredo, TX. The CHL has 11 teams across the country, including an expansion team that will start in Denver, CO this year. The closest team to St. Charles is in Independence, MO, the Missouri Mavericks. The regular season runs October through March.  "This is a great hockey area, we feel that as we go around the towns," said Duane Lewis, Commissioner of the CHL.
