Prasino St. Charles opened to the public on Monday in the Streets of St. Charles development, located near the Interstate 70 and Fifth Street intersection.
Prasino St. Charles, the environmentally friendly restaurant that was announced to be coming to the Streets of St. Charles in January, is now open. Prasino, which is Greek for "green", focuses on locally-sourced ingredients and uses organic, all-natural, steroid- and hormone- free foods. More news on Prasino: The restaurant will be open for breakfast through dinner, serving up items like a roasted beet salad, short rib tacos, Wisconsin ribeye and sushi rolls. Hours are set for 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Prasino will be located in an 8,500 square foot space and will seat 280 inside and 90 outside. The Patch Pick 'Em contest pitted 64 local restaurants in a bracket competition during March and April.
Patch readers have spoken—quite loudly and repeatedly—and when all was said and done, St. Charles' Padavan's NY was crowned the winner of our 2013 readers' choice competition for local eateries. Each week, we nominate a new restaurant for you to review. That's right, you're the local expert.
When it comes to restaurants, St. Charles has it covered. We have some great local places that many would consider community gems; we have some restaurants that aren't exactly mom-and-pop but are unique to the area; and we certainly—for better or for worse—have plenty of chains lining our main streets. But what we don't have is a consistent food critic to tell us what's good and what's not. That's where you come in. We could throw some money at a professional food critic, but that's not exactly what Patch is all about. We'd much rather know the opinion of the fine folks that eat there day-in and day-out. O'Fallon Patch reader Matt White filled out the winning bracket, correctly guessing 40 of the tournament's matchups correctly.
Patch readers have spoken—quite loudly, we might add—and when all was said and done, St. Charles' Padavan's NY was crowned the first ever Munch Madness champion! Padavan's NY defeated O'Fallon's B. Hall's Family Grill in the Munch Madness finals. And while B. Hall's had more votes on the Patch website, Padavan's NY flexed its social media muscle and mobilized its followers and friends to claim the victory.
