Just elected to a four-year term in November, Missouri's State Treasurer is seen by some as a possible candidate for Lieutenant Governor if a vacancy is created.
In what he called a "sincere statement," Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel told Patch Wednesday he would serve a full term in office, despite some speculation he could be a candidate for lieutenant governor. Zweifel, a former state representative from Florissant, spoke to a group of small business owners at Pulaski Bank in Creve Coeur Wednesday. Political watchers will be keeping a close eye on what happens Feb. 9 in Southeast Missouri, as Republicans in the state's Eighth Congressional district decide who to put up in a June special election to fill the seat left empty by Jo Ann Emerson's resignation. A St. Charles restaurant manager has been accused of stealing a bank deposit for the restaurant. St. Charles Police said that Michael C. Femmer, of the 1100 block of Simmons Avenue in Kirkwood, stole the bank deposit for Golden Corral, 1850 Zumbehl Road, a total of $5,516. Femmer was a manager on duty and he prepared the deposit for Oct. 28, police said. Surveillance video shows he drove to Pulaski Bank in the same shopping center as the restaurant, and extended his arm but did not drop the bank bag for deposit, police said. The president of Golden Corral told officers he questioned Femmer about the deposit and Femmer told him he lost it and offered to pay it back. Man fled on foot with cash in a white, plastic grocery bag.
St. Charles Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing the Pulaski Bank on Zumbehl Road in St. Charles Tuesday morning. The suspect, a black man, who is bald and has a muscular build, passed a note to the clerk that implied he had a weapon around. He did not display a weapon, however. He fled the area with a white, plastic grocery bag filled with U.S. currency, according to St. Charles Police Lt. Dave Senter. He was seen running north across parking lots. Police received a report of the robbery around 11:12 a.m. May 15. The man was wearing a light colored baseball cap which the clerk asked him to remove.
