A St. Charles County grand jury indicted Jordan Lafayette Prince on charges he sexually assaulted and murdered a 4-month-old infant.
A St. Charles man was indicted Friday on forcible sodomy and child abuse charges in addition to first-degree murder in the death of a 4-month-old baby. A St. Charles County grand jury indicted Jordan Lafayette Prince, 24, of the 3600 block of Fremont Drive in St. Charles, for choking a 4-month-old baby on Dec. 3. The child died Dec. 4. Douglas Howery, 60, was convicted of first-degree murder of his wife Betty Ann Howery, 44, of St. Charles, on Nov. 29. According to reports, Douglas Howery killed his wife and then dumped her in a septic tank to hide her remains.
A man found guilty of killing his wife and then dumping her dead body in a septic tank in 1992 was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the St. Louis Post-Disatch reports. St. Charles County prosecutors said Steven Martineau beat his girlfriend, Linda Cerutti, on May 26. She died 15 days later.
A St. Charles County grand jury indicted Steven J. Martineau Jan. 18 for second-degree murder, second-degree domestic assault and third-degree domestic assault in the beating death of his girlfriend. Prosecutors said Martineau assaulted Linda Cerutti May 26, causing severe head trauma. She remained unconscious and died June 10 as a result of her injuries. She was 50 years old. Martineau next has a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 22. Martineau also is charged with a Feb. 26 assault on Cerutti, which was witnessed by another woman, according to St. Charles Police. A St. Charles man has been charged with second degree murder and endangering the welfare of child in the first degree following the death of a four-month-old. Jordan Lafayette Prince, 24, of St. Charles, was charged Thursday following the asphyxiation death of an infant on Dec. 4, 2012. According to the probable cause statement, Prince told St. Charles Police that he was watching the child on Dec. 3 in the living room of his residence in the 3600 block of Fremont while the infant's mother slept. At approximately 11:30 a.m. Prince told police he became frustrated when the infant would not stop crying. Linda Cerutti wasn’t what people think of when they think of domestic violence victims, said her daughter, Carrie Brackett. “My mother is by far the strongest person I have ever known in my life,” Brackett said a few days after her mother died June 10. “She was the person I would call for just about anything. I leaned on her. Now, I can’t do that.” Cerutti, of St. Charles, died June 10 from injuries from a May 29 attack. Her live-in boyfriend, Steven Martineau was charged Friday with second-degree murder. A second-degree murder and second-degree domestic assault charges were filed Friday against Steven John Martineau, 48, of the 400 block of Tower Grove in St. Charles. Martineau is accused of killing his girlfriend, Linda Cerutti, 50, who died June 10 from her injuries. St. Charles Police said Martineau and Cerutti argued at their home 400 block of Tower Grove Place in St. Charles. During the argument, Martineau attacked Cerutti, beating her into unconsciousness, police said. She never recovered from her injuries and died 15 days later. According to a news release, investigators used inconsistencies in Martineau’s account of how Cerutti sustained her injuries and information from other sources to develop the case. Deonta Williamson ended a high-speed chase that began in O'Fallon by ramming a Carutherville police car with a stolen Cadillac Escalade, which killed a police officer.
An O'Fallon man, accused of killing a southeast Missouri police officer, will stand trial in St. Charles, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. According to KSDK, Deonta Williamson, 30, was fleeing police in August 2011 when he slammed a stolen Cadillac Escalade from his parents O'Fallon home into two patrol cars positioned to stop him. Carutherville Officer Evan Burns wasn't able to get out of the patrol car and was killed in the accident. Williamson was granted a move to St. Charles County after a Tuesday hearing before Judge Fred Copeland in Pemiscot County. Paul White, along with accomplice Cleo S. Hines, planned a robbery that took the life of Robert Eidman, a St. Charles insurance agent. On Monday, White was sentenced to life in prison.
Paul White, formerly of St. Charles, was given a life sentence without parole on Monday for the 2007 murder of 48-year-old insurance agent Robert Eidman. White received another life sentence for a second count of robbery. The sentences will run consecutively. In early June 2007, White, broke after a gambling loss of $1,200, planned to rob Eidman, a St. Peters resident, when he recalled that Eidman, who was his wife's insurance agent, took cash payments. Although White's roommate, Cleo Hines, pulled the trigger, Eidman planned the crime and provided the gun, prosecutors said. The man who was the passenger in a getaway car during an attempted robbery and murder on a St. Charles parking lot on Christmas Eve 2010 was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Tory Brooks, 22, of the 900 block of North Sixth Street, pleaded no contest to charges of second-degree murder, attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action, the report said, for his part in the the death of Brandon Joyce, a 26-year-old St. Charles-native. Brooks was one of four men who tried to rob Joyce during a drug deal early on the morning of Dec. 24, 2012.
