Lindenwood University To Host Martin Luther King Day Celebration
Event at St. Charles campus includes performances from students and keynote speech by professor Angela da Silva.
Members of the Black Student Union at Lindenwood University are presenting “The Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” at 3 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Emerson Black Box Theatre of the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts. The free event is open to the public. Angela da Silva will give the keynote address. Da Silva is an adjunct professor at Lindenwood University's Daniel Boone home in Defiance, MO. She often portrays a slave named Lila during local reenactment events. "A couple of students had her in the past and found her knowledgeable," said Shane Williamson, associate professor of education and sponsor of the Black Student Union.
