Temple Grandin's Book Offers Tips for People With Autism

"The Way I See It" tops the best-seller list for independent St. Louis-area bookstores for the week ending March 18.

Two of author and autism lecturer Temple Grandin's books made the best-seller list for five St. Louis-area independent bookstores from the week ending March 18. The bookstores include Subterranean Books in University City, Sue's News at the St. Louis Galleria, Left Bank Books in the Central West End, Main Street Books in St. Charles and Pudd'nhead Books in Webster Groves.  One book, The Way I See It, offers suggestions to people who are on the autism spectrum and caregivers for ways to live in a world that is unpredictable.  Grandin spoke to a crowd of more than 1,500 people March 13 at an event at Lindenwood University.  Adults: 1. But it isn’t the big box chain’s she is worried about. It’s the “A-word,” the omnipresent, ever-streamlining Amazon.com. “Sometimes I feel like I am a showroom for Amazon anyway,” Erwin said. Customers sometimes browse her bookstore with smartphones in hand, checking online to see where they can get a better price. “To me, that is really just a hard thing. Best Books: Read about the Real Downton Abbey

Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey by Fiona Carnavron takes a look at the people who used to live at Highclere Castle, the location in which the PBS series Downton Abbey was filmed. The book focuses on Lady Almina, the 5th Countess of Carnarvon, who lived there during WWI. The Gaurdian reviewed the book last September. Read that review here.
