Lady Lions fall to 11th ranked Central Missouri, while the men have a thrilling finish.
Richie Thompson hit 2 free throws with just 4.8 seconds left in the game to lift the Lindenwood Lions to an 83-82 victory over the Central Missouri Mules at the Hyland Arena. The Lions had led for most of the 2nd half. In fact, they had a 16-point lead with 11:47 to play. However, the Mules fought back, and when Central’s Reggie Stallings hit a 3-pointer with 10.8 seconds to play, it gave them an 82-81 lead, before Thompson connected on his free throw shots. In the 1st half, Central Missouri went on a 14-5 run late to build a 40-34 lead, the biggest lead for either side in the 1st half. However, Lindenwood score the half’s last 3 points. Sharese Jones, a player for MSSU scores 10 in their win at Lindenwood
The Lindenwood Lions had a home game Thursday night against Missouri Southern State University, MSSU. However, many in attendance were there to support the visiting Missouri Southern Lions, at least one player in particular. Sharese Jones, who graduated last May from nearby Francis Howell Central High School, is a member of Missouri Southern, and her supporters were not disappointed as Jones had 10 points, and Missouri Southern downed Lindenwood 78-74 at the Hyland Arena. Despite the difference in records, it was a close game throughout, not decided until the last minute. Reeg scores 21 to lead 136-point explosion
ST. CHARLES - The Lindenwood men's basketball team was looking forward to some home cooking on Tuesday night. After eight successive road games to begin the season, the Lions were ready to cut loose. And cut loose they did, setting a school scoring record in posting an eye-popping 136-57 win over Concordia Seminary at Robert F. Hyland Arena. Lindenwood, which improved to 8-1, set a mark for most points in a single game. The friendly environs proved to be just what the Lions needed. They racked up 76 points in the opening half and led by as many as 74 points in the second half.
