Man Steals Friend's Rings, Pawns Them, Police Say

St. Charles Police said he had a pawn receipt for one ring when he was arrested for the crime.

A 27-year-old St. Charles County man stole and pawned three rings from a friend who lives in St. Charles, police said. James Kerley, 27, of the 5300 block of North Highway 94, was charged Nov. 14 with felony stealing. St. Charles Police said Kerley knew the victim and was allowed in the house in the 400 block of Tower Grove Place in St. Charles. However, he took three rings without permission on Oct. 7 and pawned them at a pawn shop. Police said he got $165 for the rings, which were valued at $6,000. Kerley had one of the pawn receipts on him when arrested, according to the police report. According to the police report. Kerley told officers he used the money to pay his probation fees. Teen Charged with Stealing Stepfather's Pickup After Throwing Unauthorized Party

Items also came up missing after the party. The teen's boyfriend has been charged with receiving stolen property.

A St. Charles teenager was charged Friday with stealing her stepfather’s pickup truck while her boyfriend was charged in connection with the stolen pickup and receiving stolen property. Samantha Lay, 17, had a large party July 6 at her mother and stepfather’s house in the first block of Seabiscuit Drive, according to a St. Charles Police report. Lay’s boyfriend, Steven Scott, 19, of the 600 block of Sunward Drive in O’Fallon, attended the party. During the party, Scott got in a fight and caused a large amount of damage to the residence, according to the police report. Lt. Homeless Man Charged with Burglarizing St. Charles Home

Police said the man burglarized home in his former neighborhood to support his drug habit.

A homeless man was charged Wednesday with burglarizing and stealing from a St. Charles home last December. St. Charles Police said in a report that Adam J. King, 20, and another person entered the home in the 400 block of South Cadillac Drive through an unlocked door and stole an antique watch appraised at $1,200 to $1,500 and a box of jewelry. His last known address is in the same block as the burglarized home. King told police he pawned the items. Police located the transaction in a pawn shop database on the same day as the crime. He told police he is a drug user who steals to support his habit. King also told police he stole firearms from his parents and sold them, according to the report.

Woman Charged with Stealing Her Grandmother's Rings

Woman told police she sold the jewelry so she could buy heroin.

An O’Fallon woman faces charges that she stole four rings with a total value of $32,000 from her grandmother, a St. Charles resident. Alicia Davis, 21, of the 1100 block of Ashford Place in O’Fallon, was charged Wednesday in with stealing property valued at more than $25,000, a class B felony. Davis told St. Charles Police she took the rings from her grandmother’s jewelry box on April 28 while she was staying with her grandparent. Davis said she sold the rings to a Lake Saint Louis jewelry store so she could buy heroin. She also faces a possession of illegal drugs charge after being arrested by Wentzville Police in March 2011 and a forgery charge in O’Fallon in April 2011.

Homeless Woman Charged in St. Charles Burglaries

Woman had been confronted by homeowner in one break in.

A homeless woman has been charged with a burglary and a burglary attempt in St. Charles in late 2011. St. Charles Police say the woman, Abbey Lynne Page, 30, used a crowbar to pry open a door on Dec. 10 and was confronted by the homeowner in the 100 block of Brighton Park. She then ran off. Page also is charged with a burglary in the same neighborhood. According to a written police report, she pried open a door in the 2700 block of Brighton Way on Nov. 23. Stolen were a laptop valued at $899 and gold and silver jewelry valued at $47,800. Much of the jewelry was sold and melted down, police say. The woman told police she burglarized homes so she could buy heroin. She was on probation for a burglary in St. Louis County. Bond was set at $46,…
