Julia Armstrong, 23, jumped out of a moving car and was seriously injured.
A St. Charles woman was seriously injured after she jumped out of a moving car on Tuesday. Julia Armstrong, 23, jumped out of a moving car just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 70 west of Zumbehl Road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Armstrong sustained serious injuries from the jump and was taken to SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. The crash report didn't offer an explanation as to why Armstrong decided to jump out of the moving car. Armstrong was a passenger in a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by James Anthony, 53, of St. Peters.

MoDOT will doing pavement repairs at Route 79 and re-striping on the Blanchette Bridge.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will be busy on Monday in St. Charles County. MoDOT will close the far right lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near Route 79 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29 for pavement repairs, weather permitting. The lane closure will begin just east of Route 79. The entrance ramp from Route 79 to eastbound I-70 will also be closed. Northbound Route 79 motorists are advised to follow the message boards and use the north outer road to detour and access eastbound I-70. Closer to St. Louis, MoDOT will close multiple lanes in each direction on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday. The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the far right lane of westbound Interstate 70 near Route 79 on Monday, April 22 at 3 a.m. The closure begins a half mile east of Route 79 and ends at the Route 79 exit. This closure will remain in place for the next three months. The Route 79 exit remains open. This work is part of a project constructing a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). The project also includes the construction of an additional westbound I-70 lane between Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Route 79.

A Lindenwood University diving coach was stopped for driving the wrong way on Interstate 70 and brought into custody before he spit at and attempted to assault officers, St. Peters Police said. Patch reported earlier that Kyle Friesenhahn, 25, of the 1000 block of Pine Street in St. Charles, was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer. Officer Melissa Doss, spokesperson for St. Peters Police, said the department requested the St. Charles County Prosecutor’s Office to file driving while intoxicated charges against Friesenhahn. Traffic was backed up as several westbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed in St. Charles because of an accident involving a person being hit by a car.

A plan two years in the making to alleviate congestion at Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Interstate 70 should begin work as soon as next month. Thursday afternoon the Missouri Department of Transportation hosted an open house at St. Peters City Hall to introduce the public to plans to reconfigured the heavily-trafficked interchange. Plans for a new diverging diamond interchange were unveiled and explained to the public in attendance. "This is just another old interchange that needed to be updated to handle the volume of traffic it's trying to handle," said Russ Batzel, the public works service manager for St. Peters. Car thieves tried ramming a barrier at Pundmann Ford with a Ford F-450 pickup, but got hung up on the concrete-filled obstacle Sunday, St. Charles Police reported. When police officers arrived, five to seven men ran across Interstate 70 towards Walmart in St. Charles. Officers caught two suspects near or inside Walmart. Charged with accessory to second-degree burglary were Dante R. Keller, 18, of the 4300 block of Blair Avenue in St. Louis and Anthony L. Smith, 18, of the 9700 block of Edgefield Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Christopher Cook sustained minor injuries in a traffic crash on Interstate 70 in St. Peters.
A St. Charles man was injured in a traffic collision last Wednesday in St. Peters . Christopher Cook, 43, sustained minor injuries after being involved in a crash on Aug. 15 on Interstate 70 just east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report , Cook was traveling eastbound on I-70 when another driver, 26-year-old Florissant resident Joel Herr, changed lanes. Herr's semi-truck struck the side of Cook's 1993 Honda Civic. The impact caused minor damage to Herr's 2007 International Truck Tractor and extensive damage to Cook's vehicle. St. Charles County Ambulance took Cook to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.

Grant Hulett, 31, was ejected from a car on Interstate 70 near Lake Saint Louis Boulevard before being pronounced dead on scene.
A St. Charles man is dead following a single-car accident on Interstate 70 Friday evening. Grant Hulett, 31, of St. Charles, was a passenger in a car driving westbound on I-70 near Lake Saint Louis Boulevard when he was ejected from the car after it swerved to avoid another car. The car traveled across all three lanes of traffic, struck the median barrier and overturned four times. Hulett, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol website, was wearing a safety device. He was pronounced dead on scene at 6:54 p.m. The driver of the car was uninjured. According to Fox 2 News, the westbound lanes of I-70 were blocked for a little more than an hour.

One man was in serious condition after an accident Monday morning.
A 28-year-old man from Florissant was seriously injured in a car accident on Interstate 70 Monday that involved three cars. Nicholas Vizgird, of Florissant, was driving westbound on Interstate 70, west of I-270 around 7:45 a.m. when the front of his vehicle struck the back of a car driven by Charles Ryan, 51, of St. Charles, according to the accident report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Vizgird's car then traveled off the road and hit a concrete barrier. Ryan's car spun and struck the rear of a car driven by Theresa Higins, 51, of St. Ann. Ryan's car then traveled off the right of the road and hit a sign. Vizgird was taken to DePaul Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries. Ryan was taken to St. Joseph Health …
