New glasses shop opened on Main Street in fall 2012.
Optometrist Julie Emming-Thomas celebrated the ribbon cutting for The Eye Shoppe, located at 115 North Main Street in St. Charles. The store opened in July 2012, but Emming-Thomas hosted a ribbon cutting Jan. 23 with members of the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce. Inspired consignment shop opened in December.
Inspired, a resale shop celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting with the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Inspired is located at 617 First Capitol Drive in St. Charles. The retail consignment shop offers old, new and unique merchandise. Kevin Rogers, owner of Dairy Queen on Jungs Station Road and First Capitol Drive, created a special "Lindenwood Blizzard" which features ingredients in Lindenwood's colors, black and gold, including crushed Oreos, caramel and cheesecake bites. The blizzard was created in honor of the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce's Paint the Town Gold campaign, which the Chamber created to encourage business owners to welcome back Lindenwood University students. The “Turning the Page -Reflections on Progress” 5k race will start at 9 p.m. Aug. 25.
Runners and walkers will have a chance to check out phase two of the Page Avenue Extension before it opens. The Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is hosting a night run Aug. 25 on the new six-mile section of road from Harvester Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters. City leaders and Missouri Department of Transportation Officials plan to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30. Races have been held to celebrate the opening of other major roads including phase one of the Page Avenue Extension, the reopening of Highway 40 and, most recently, the Highway 141 extension. The Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on June 21.
The Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to host the annuall Sip and Savor St. Charles County Taste Event. This year the food and beverage fest will take place at the spacious 370 Lakeside Park in St. Peters. This year's Sip and Savor offers a whole host of local restaurants serving their dishes. Attendees at the event can sip on wine or beer will sampling barbecue, gourmet pizza, desserts, pasta and more. While all the tasting is going on, guests will be treated to live music from the band The Ultra Violets. The event is open to the public. Tickets for guests in advance are $30 each. Members of the St. Charles and St. Peters Chambers of Commerce will vote today whether to merge the two chambers into the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce. Members of the St. Peters Chamber can vote from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Peters Chamber office at 1236 Jungermann Road. Members of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce can vote during the General Membership meeting which is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Banquet Center of the Little Hills at 111 Transit Street. Two-thirds of the votes cast or a majority of those voting in each chamber, whichever is smaller, must approve the plan.
