The 2012 boys soccer season is in the books for all the Gateway Athletic Conference teams, but it's time to take a look back. Yes, it's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll. Except this week has a twist. Instead of looking at the last week, we're looking at the entire season. Tell us in the poll below: Who was the top GAC boys soccer player in 2012? Jordan Stephens—Francis Howell: Francis Howell's Jordan Stephens was the top point getter in all of the GAC. Stephens was led the GAC South, all of the GAC with his 67 points. The majority of his points came from his 26 goals—best in the GAC. He also chipped in 15 assists for the Vikings. At the end of the recent basketball season the GAC North and the GAC South named first-team all conference for boys and girls basketball. Ten players from the teams all around were chosen to be first-team all conference. We know want to know who you think is the best of the best. This week, we'll look at the boys. The candidates are: George Cater—Fort Zumwalt South: Cater led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.8 points per game, including a team-high 65 made 3-pointers. Chaz Glotta—Fort Zumwalt North: Glotta was the top scorer for North with an average of 19.3 points per contest. Josh Ross—Fort Zumwalt East: Ross scored a team-high 15.9 points per game and added a team-best 2.41 assists per game for the Lions. Trevor Tune—Duchesne: Tune …

Superintendents approve adding Orchard Farm, Winfield to conference.
Orchard Farm and Winfield High Schools will be moving to the Gateway Athletic Conference. School superintendents from members of the Gateway Athletic Conference voted in favor of inviting the two smaller schools into the conference, but turned down Pattonville, which has a larger student body. Athletic Directors from the Gateway schools on Tuesday had supported the entry of Pattonville, Winfield and Orchard Farm. St. Charles School District Superintendent Randy Charles said he thinks Orchard Farm will be a welcome addition to the conference, which will lose Duchesne High School to the Archdiocesan Athletic Association in 2013. St. Charles High School and St. Charles West High School are two of the smallest schools in the GAC currently. …

District is one of three that the GAC superintendents will consider adding to the conference this week.
Orchard Farm School District may find out this week if it's the newest member of the Gateway Athletic Conference (GAC). The athletic directors of current GAC member schools on Tuesday recommended adding Pattonville, Winfield and Orchard Farm High Schools to the GAC, said Dave Witter, athletic director at Francis Howell High School. The athletic directors planned to meet with seven superintendents of GAC schools on Thursday to discuss the recommendation. The superintendents from the St. Charles, Fort Zumwalt, Francis Howell, Troy, Warrenton, Wentzville and Washington School Districts would make the final decision. Corey Whiteside and TJ Short lead charge by Pirates to win 69-45.
The St. Charles Pirates shut down Northwest's outside shooting game while putting together a balanced attack of their own as they cruised to a 69-45 victory Saturday in a GAC/Suburban Basketball Challenge matchup at the Family Arena. Both teams ended the day at .500 on the season as the Lions fell to 3-3 with the loss while the Pirates improved to 4-4 with the win. Pirates' Coach Rick Foster cited the game as the top performance for his squad this season. "We shut down their key players and I think we played as well today sharing the ball as we have all year," said Foster.
