The 2012 softball season is in the books, but it's OK to take a look back. Yes, it's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll. Except this week has a twist. It's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll.  This week we turn our attention to the football field. Tell us in the poll below: Which St. Charles County football player had the best Week 8? Shane Barrett—Fort Zumwalt East: Fort Zumwalt East pulled out a one-point win against Washington Friday night. A key player for the Lions? Sophomore quarterback Shane Barrett. Once again the dual-threat QB got things done through the air and on the ground. He ran the ball 22 times for 115 yards (5.2 yards per carry). Throwing the ball, he was 16-for-24 for 171 yards and four scores against just one interception. Clay Stulce—Duchesne: The Duchesne Pioneers had a huge 42-14 win against St. Charles in Week 8. …

It's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll.  This week we turn our attention to the football field. Tell us in the poll below: Which St. Charles County football player had the best Week 7? Teddy Williamson—Fort Zumwalt West: Teddy Williamson had no problem finding the endzone on Friday night. In Zumwalt West's win against Howell Central, Williamson helped power the Jaguars' offense with four scores. He ran the ball 20 times in the contest and racked up 201 yards. Four of his runs went for scores—a 4-yard run in the first, a 5-yard run in the second and a pair of long runs in the third. Athlete of the Week: Zumwalt East's Taylor Wins Award

Fort Zumwalt East's Nikki Taylor is the fan choice for top softball player from the first part of the 2012 season.

Fort Zumwalt East's Nikki Taylor's start to the season did not go unnoticed.  The Tigers' slugger—who leads the team in most offensive categories—won the Patch St. Charles County Athlete of the Week award.  Here's how the voting broke down: Which St. Charles County softball player has had the best start to the 2012 season? Taylor has been hitting just about everything this season for the Fort Zumwalt East Lions. Taylor leads the Lions in several offensive categories like batting average (.476), homers (three), RBIs (11) and steals (two). She has 10 hits on the year, six for extra bases—two doubles, a triple and three home runs. Athlete of the Week: Taylor Wade Named GAC Player of the Year

Fort Zumwalt South's Taylor Wade wins fan's choice award.

Taylor Wade is not just a goal scorer. Sure the Zumwalt South star can score—she scored 17 goals this season—but she can also be a playmaker. She led the GAC with 19 assists and was second in the conference in total points. Her offensive output was enough to garner the attention of fans across the GAC. Wade's showing was good enough to get her the crown of Patch's fan's choice poll for GAC soccer player of the year. Here's how the voting broke down: Who is the top GAC girls soccer player for the 2012 season? Wade was part of a strong offensive attack from Zumwalt South. The Bulldogs compiled an 18-9-0 mark this year and scored 70 goals. An impressive 17 came off the foot of Wade. Her goal output, third in the GAC North, was just part of …

Help us name the fan's choice for GAC girls soccer player of the year.

All across St. Charles County fans got to witness great performances from girls soccer players. Here's what we're looking for: Who is the top GAC girls soccer player for the 2012 season? Here are the nominees:  Lydia Meeks—St. Charles High School: The Pirates' Lydia Meeks was a top-5 offensive threat in the GAC North this season. The St. Charles High School student finished in the top-5 in points, goals and assists. Meeks netted 14 goals and picked up 12 helpers for the Pirates. Her 40 points were fifth in the conference, but her goals and assists both put her in a tie for fourth. She also added two game-winning goals for St. Charles.  Samantha Fennessey and Mackenzie Crawford—Fort Zumwalt West: The Zumwalt West soccer team went 21-5-1 …

Help us name the fan's choice for GAC baseball player of the year.

The 2012 baseball season ended this weekend at the State championships. To celebrate the season, we're taking a look back. All across St. Charles County fans got to witness great performances from baseball players. Here's what we're looking for: Who is the top GAC Baseball player for the 2012 season? Here are the nominees:  Josh Abegg—Holt: Josh Abegg was easily the ace of the Holt pitching staff. The Holt hurler had quite a year for the Indians. He picked up six wins on the year, tied for best in GAC South. His overall record was 6-1, one of the top winning percentages in the conference. In 46 innings pitched, Abegg allowed a miniscule seven earned runs. His ERA was 1.07 for the year, good enough for third in the league. He picked up 53 …

Athlete of the Week: Gerrion Grim Wins Top Prize

Fort Zumwalt South hurler Gerrion Grim named the Patch Athlete of the Week.

Fort Zumwalt South pitcher Gerrion Grim had a good game on the mound and, as a result is the Patch Athlete of the week. While Grim's season ended earlier this week with a loss in sectionals, Grim and the Bulldogs will always have the District tournament. Grim was spectacular and his fans noticed. He won a tight Athlete of the Week contest by just one vote. Here's how the voting went down: Who was the St. Charles County player of the week beginning on May 14?? A big reason why the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs are Class 4, District 8 champions is the pitching arm of Gerrion Grim. As the season winds down, the games get bigger. With the games getting bigger, some players crack under the pressure. Others? Well they rise to the occasion. With District action on the soccer and baseball fields across Missouri, these four athletes certainly didn't back down. Here are the nominees for Athlete of the Week for the week of May 14. Gerrion Grim—Fort Zumwalt South: A big reason why the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs are Class 4, District 8 champions is the right arm of Gerrion Grim.
