Man Had Stolen Rosary, Blankets, Gift and Credit Cards, Police Say

St. Charles Police said they found the rosary and blankets in Steven Mahler's residence, and the credit and gift cards were found in his car.

A St. Charles man is accused of receiving stolen property, including a rosary, three fleece blankets and gift and store merchandise cards. Steven D. Mahler, 21, of the 3000 block of St. Camella in St. Charles County, was charged Feb. 13 with receiving stolen property. St. Charles Police said Mahler’s mother contacted a burglary victim after finding a credit card in her front yard Feb. 9. The victim reported gift cards and credit cards stolen Feb. 8 in St. Charles. She told the woman that Mahler might have been involved in the burglary, police said. Police came and searched the home on St. Camella and found a rosary with wooden beads hanging on a sports trophy in Mahler’s bedroom. They also found three fleece blankets in a chest that Mahler…

By the way, I'm not saying this young man is guilty. I'm just stating that, in general, parents should not try to hide crimes their sons or daughters commit because it reinforces a feeling of entitlement -- that it's OK for them to commit a crime.   more ›
