It's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll.  This week we turn our attention to the football field. Tell us in the poll below: Which St. Charles County football player had the best Week 9? Armand Keely—Orchard Farm: Orchard Farm pulled out a big win in the final moments on Friday night. The Eagles scored 14 fourth-quarter points to beat Clopton 27-26. The first score that started the comeback was a two-yard run by Armand Kelly. The TD was his second in the game. In total, Kelly carried the ball 21 times for 128 yards to power the Orchard Farm offense.  Jordan Norwine—Christian High School: The O'Fallon Christian Eagles closed out the regular season with a huge 38-12 win against Lift for Life. The …

It's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll.  This week we turn our attention to the football field. Tell us in the poll below: Which St. Charles County football player had the best Week 7? Teddy Williamson—Fort Zumwalt West: Teddy Williamson had no problem finding the endzone on Friday night. In Zumwalt West's win against Howell Central, Williamson helped power the Jaguars' offense with four scores. He ran the ball 20 times in the contest and racked up 201 yards. Four of his runs went for scores—a 4-yard run in the first, a 5-yard run in the second and a pair of long runs in the third. Athlete of the Week: Lutheran's Brett Collins Selected As Top Football Performer

The Cougars' Brett Collins is the fan choice for top football player from Week 1 of the high school season.

The wins just keep coming for Brett Collins and the Lutheran Cougars.  After helping his team snap an 18-game losing streak in Week 1 of the 2012 high school football season, Lutheran quarterback Brett Collins was nominated for the Patch St. Charles County Athlete of the Week. Collins, with 76 percent of the vote, came out on top.  Here's how the voting broke down: Who was the top football player from Week 1 of the 2012 season? Collins had a hand in all four touchdowns for the Cougars. As the quarterback, Collins was 12-for-21 for 209 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions. It's another high school sports season, which means the return of our weekly St. Charles County Athlete of the Week poll.  This week we turn our attention to the football filed. Tell us in the poll below: Who was the St. Charles County player of the week for the first week of the 2012 football season?  Here are the nominees:  Brett Collins—Lutheran High School: For the first time since Sept. 3, 2010, the Lutheran Cougars picked up a win. Snapping an 18-game losing skid that spanned all of last season, the Cougars topped Principia 27-21 on the opening night of the 2012 season. A key piece in the win? Howell North's Braxton Martinez Picks Up Athlete of the Week Award

Francis Howell North's Braxton Martinez won the fan choice for Patch's Athlete of the Week.

Braxton Martinez has been punishing pitchers around St. Charles County this season.  The Francis Howell North product is a hitting star this season for the Knights and the fans have taken notice. In our Athlete of the Week poll, Martinez was the top vote getter. With 48 of the 74 votes (64 percent), Martinez won the top honors in our fan's choice for best baseball player so far this season.  Here's how the voting went down:  Total votes: 74 votes Martinez, who will be attending Saint Louis University in the fall, has been tearing things up so far this season for the Knights. He's hitting .543 (19-for-35) with seven doubles, one homer and 16 RBIs. He's also scored 18 runs this season for the Howell North.  *** Patch wants to thank everyone …

One of the sure-fire signs of spring, besides sneezing fits for those inflicted with seasonal allergies, is baseball. Diamonds all across St. Charles County has been busy in the early part of the high school baseball season. Even though the season is just two weeks old, plenty of action has taken place on the field. This week, we're asking you Patch readers to decide which baseball player around the County has had the biggest impact in the early part of the season.  The nominees are:  Ryan March—Fort Zumwalt East: The month of March was very good for Mr. March. And The Winner Is: Lexie Moe Tabbed as Athlete of the Week

Fort Zumwalt West's Lexie Moe wins Patch's St. Charles County Athlete with a staggering number of votes.

The voters have spoken, oh have they ever, and Lexie Moe has been tabbed as the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4. In what was easily the most highly-contested athlete of the week poll Patch has ever run, more than 440,000—that's four hundred and forty thousand—votes were cast for the favorite athlete in St. Charles County. Moe won with 274,379 of the 440,417 votes (62 percent).  Here's how the voting broke down:  Total votes: 440,417 In just about any other week, Sharese Jones would've won the title, but the fans of Zumwalt West, and Lexie Moe, were simply too much to stop—much like Moe in her game against Howell Central.  Moe scored a team-high 15 points against the Spartans to help West advance to the …

It's time, once again, to pick St. Charles County's favorite athlete. Be heard by picking our Patch Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4. Last week's winner: Austin Rugraff of St. Charles West High School. Coming off a Class 3 State title in the 160-pound weight class, Rugraff won the poll with a staggering 95 percent of the vote. Rugraff picked up 210 of the 221 votes cast.  The nominees this week are: (Vote for one of the following or write in your own candidate in the comments): Sharese Jones—Francis Howell Central: Jones, a senior on the girls basketball team, ended her high school career on a high note. O'Fallon Christian Stays Unbeaten, Sends St. Charles to second Loss This Week

Adam Glenville is on a quest to take the O'Fallon Christian boys basketball team to new heights. On Friday the 6-foot-4, 190-pound senior forward garnered praise from St. Charles coach Rick Foster, whose team lost 74-64 to the visiting Eagles in a non-conference contest. "The Glenville kid is probably one of the better players in the area this year," Foster said. Glenville poured in a game-high 27 points against the Pirates - seven points above his season average in leading Christian to its fifth win to start the season. He helped the Eagles turn a 12-point, first-quarter deficit into a 16-point lead by the fourth and scored 10 points in the final stanza to quell a St. Charles comeback bid.
