A Maryland Heights man is accused of breaking into a series of storage areas and travel trailers at facilities in Wentzville and St. Charles. David Kellerman, 40, of the 2100 block of Butterfield Drive in Maryland Heights, was charged Wednesday with two counts of first-degree property damage in St. Charles. He was charged Friday with four counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of property damage, two counts of felony stealing (more than $500) and three counts of misdemeanor stealing in Wentzville. Maryland Heights Police arrested Kellerman Monday. In Des Peres last week, a handful of cars and homes were burglarized in a residential neighborhood—a serious enough "spree" that the city blasted an email and text alert to the neighborhoods. As it happens, the burglar got into some unlocked cars, used the garage door opener and walked into a pair of houses in which the inside door was not locked. The report brought on this comment from a reader: "A person would not lock their car outside overnight (or anytime) because? And with a home garage door opener and valuables inside? Sean Michael Moore, of St. Charles, was charged with burglary after he was found inside the CrossWay Church at 3:30 a.m.
A St. Charles man who told police he stopped to use the restroom faces a criminal charge for entering a St. Charles church at about 2:56 a.m. Thursday. St. Charles Police said a burglar alarm was activated about that time at CrossWay Church at 420 Hemsath. The church’s pastor came to re-set the alarm at about 3:24 a.m. and found an unlocked door at the church, police said. As he drove around the building, he saw a man inside the building. The pastor later identified a man police arrested outside the church, Sean Michael Moore, as the man he saw inside the building, according to a court document. A St. Louis County woman is accused of burglarizing a St. Charles apartment April 6. Carrie Lynn Francis, 33, of St. Louis County, was charged Monday with second-degree burglary. St. Charles Police said Francis broke a bedroom window in an apartment in the 2100 block of Sherman Square in St. Charles. Francis took a laptop computer and left the apartment, police said. Brittnee Traylor, 21, was charged with first-degree burglary and felony theft, after she was found in a home in St. Charles, where the homeowner then held her at gunpoint until police arrived.
A St. Charles County homeowner found a woman hiding in her closet and held her at gunpoint until officers arrived, a St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy reported. Brittnee Traylor, 21, of the 1400 block of South Drive in St. Charles County, was charged with first-degree burglary and felony theft. She is scheduled to appear in St, Charles County Circuit Court Friday. A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy reported a woman found Traylor in her home in the 1200 block of Clearview Drive. The deputy said he found jewelry valued at $5,000 and the victim’s car keys in Traylor’s pocket. An anonymous tip led St. Charles Police to two men that are under federal investigation for targeting jewelry stores in multiple states.
A confidential tip helped St. Charles Police nab two men now being investigated in jewelry thefts in multiple states. Police said officers found a cache of more than $200,000 in stolen jewelry. Police found the stolen jewelry when they searched the men and their rental car March 14. Some of the recovered jewelry was reported stolen in December from Samuels Jewelers in South St. Louis County. Quinton Garrus, 52, of Baltimore, was charged Friday with receiving stolen property. A second man who was arrested has not yet been charged in St. Charles County. St. Charles Police said a confidential tip led officers to stake out a room at the Hampton Inn in St. Charles. Indulging in a late-night ice cream craving may have led to an arrest for a St. Charles man. A St. Charles Police officer stopped Andrew S. Jung, 24, of the 500 block of Eighth Street in St. Charles, as he walked three blocks away from St. Peters Catholic Church at 2:38 a.m. March 8. Police said Jung was highly intoxicated and had ice cream on his face and clothes. Police said Jung had entered St. Peters Catholic Church through a window into the kitchen, where he smashed a glass freezer door and ate an undetermined amount of ice cream. A man pleaded no contest to a first-degree burglary charge Wednesday, one day before his trial was scheduled to begin. Matthew Wakeman, 28, of Affton, was accused of breaking into a St. Charles home April 27 to help Andrew Wilson and Jennifer Temm retrieve their daughter. A relative who had their daughter had been advised by the Missouri Division of Family Services to keep her pending an investigation, according to St. Charles Police. As part of a plea bargain, St. Charles County Circuit Court Judge Nancy Schneider suspended Wakeman’s sentencing and he was placed on three years probation. A St. Charles man is accused of breaking into a St. Charles County home and stealing a credit card March 1. Timothy Frank Harris, 32, was charged March 4 with first-degree burglary. Harris' last known address was listed as the 3600 block of Deerfield Drive in St. Charles. St. Charles County Sheriff’s investigators said Harris entered a home in the 3000 block of Bluffwood Drive in St. Charles County near Ehlmann Road and stole a credit card. Police say a St. Charles County man fled when the resident of the home approached him.
A St. Charles County man went into a Ballwin home and began searching through items Feb. 22 until the homeowner confronted him, police said. Bryan P. Frantz, 31, of the 2700 block of Kelsey Court in St. Charles County, was charged Feb. 23 with first-degree burglary. Ballwin Police said Frantz entered the home in the 1000 block of Kehrs Mill Road in Ballwin and fled when the resident confronted him. Frantz posted a $35,000 bond Feb. 25 and was released from jail. Agreed. Just because a thief or vandal else clearly does wrong, does not mean the victim is necessarily "right" or blameless. It also doesn't mean they have equal blame or most of it. Such black and white thinking on this board. Sometimes victims couldn't have done anything better. Sometimes we can all learn something from the situation...like locking things up and keeping valuables out of sight. more ›
