Target, Best Buy and Walmart are included in turkey day sales. Also check out the local deals here.
If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this year—starting Thanksgiving Day. Last week, Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. But it's not alone. Target and Best Buy are also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. Target's deals begin an hour later, at 9 p.m. According to an ad leaked online, the best deals will be for a Nook, TVs, a Nikon camera and an XBOX 360 Kinect bundle. At Best Buy, doors open at midnight. Doorbusters include deals on TVs, …

Patch Associate Local Editor Joe Scott takes on a pre-Black Friday Thanksgiving retail challenge and comes out on the wrong end.
One thing you should know is that I never go shopping on any “Black” day, especially Black Friday. I’m not camping in a parking lot so I can save $50 on a DVR. I have always resisted the siren call of bargains, calling me to dash my patience and self-respect on the rocky racks of flat-screen TVs, iPhones and game systems. I’d gladly spend an extra $100 on a laptop so I can walk into a store, point, buy it and walk out faster than a ninja could whack you with nun chuks and be out the window in his black pajamas. So the first few times my wife asked if I would go out on Thanksgiving night to get a $158, 14-foot trampoline replete with protective mesh netting, I just laughed. “Think of the odds,” I thought. The call of the bargain However, …

Some area shoppers waited in line at local retail stores for days to ensure they would get the best deals.
Lines snaked around big box retail stores as early as Tuesday afternoon until doors were opened at the stroke of midnight Friday. People ran to scoop up a steal on a $600 TV and the hottest Justin Bieber doll. Some lines were shorter than others proving you don’t have to wait in line 60 hours beforehand, miss your family’s Thanksgiving dinner or risk hypothermia to score some sweet deals. Behold the sights of long and short which will help you begin mapping out next year’s day of dark deals.
Several St. Louis businesses were flooded with early, motivated shoppers today. Some of them had been waiting in line for days.

Your guide to Black Friday in St. Charles County.
This year’s shopping extravaganza will suit early birds and night owls alike. More stores are opening at midnight on the day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday by many retailers. Stores at Mid Rivers Mall, as well as Best Buy, Target and Kohl's will pull their doors open at midnight on Nov. 25. A few stores in Lake Saint Louis’s shopping center, The Meadows, will also be opening at midnight, including Aeropostale, Charming Charlie, Claire’s, Maurices and Victoria’s Secret. Andrea Schwartz, vice president of media relations for Macy’s, said this will be the first year Macy’s stores have opened this early. “This is really what the customers have been asking for,” Schwartz said. Schwartz said Macy’s employees have acted as …
