A St. Charles man on probation since September for dealing drugs, faces another drug dealing charge after police say they caught him with heroin on May 4. Marcus L Brownlee, 25, of the 100 block of Cole Boulevard in St. Charles, was charged May 6 with distributing a controlled substance. St. Charles Police said Brownlee had six capsules containing heroin on May 4. Police said he provided a written confession that says he intended to sell the heroin. Daniel M. Quirk, 43, was charged with elder abuse for with attacking his mother on Monday, St. Charles Police said.
A St. Charles man hit and kicked his 79-year-old mother, breaking bones, bruising and cutting her on May 6, police said. Daniel M. Quirk, 43, of the 300 block of Oakleaf Drive in St. Charles, was charged May 7 with second-degree elder abuse. The woman needed treatment at an area hospital. St. Charles Police said Quirk, who lives with his mother, has previous domestic assault charges. Quirk is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $50,000, cash only, and he is to have no contact with his mother. He pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic assault and tampering with a vehicle in 2010. Dominic Ewing was placed on five years probation after pleading guilty to second-degree assault.
A 19-year-old who fractured a man’s jaw with a punch on Feb. 20 pleaded guilty April 26 to second-degree assault. St. Charles County Circuit Court Judge Ted House suspended sentencing April 26 and placed Dominic Ewing on five years probation. Ewing, of the first block of Buckingham Place in St. Charles, also must have no contact with the victim, pay restitution within two years, go through any recommended substance abuse treatment and maintain full-time job or education. Witnesses told police that Paul Joseph Murphy failed to stay on the right side of the road and ran stop lights before crossing the center line and causing a head-on collision on West Clay.
A St. Charles man was driving under the influence of drugs when his car crashed head-on into another car carrying a pregnant woman, causing her to miscarry March 16, officials said. Paul Joseph Murphy, 52, of the 1000 block of Crescent Drive in St. Charles, was charged Tuesday with involuntary manslaughter and three counts of second-degree assault. St. Charles Police said that Murphy’s car crossed over the centerline at 2850 West Clay in St. Charles and collided with the oncoming car. The woman, who was 19 weeks pregnant, delivered a stillborn child upon arrival at the hospital. Two men were arrested following a concert at the Family Arena in St. Charles April 8 after struggling with officers in the parking lot. Following the El Trono de Mexico concert at the arena, a St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said he saw Nicolas Meza-Lopez, 24, throw a beer at a wall and shove a female Family Arena employee in the chest. The officer said he pursued him out of the Family Arena, where Meza-Lopez turned around, thumped his chest and began struggling with the officer. Steven Timothy Scott has pleaded guilty to 13 charges in less than two years in St. Charles, O'Fallon, Wentzville and St. Charles County.
A man pleaded guilty Feb 26 to crimes that included: Steven Timothy Scott, 20, of St. Charles, also will serve sentences for damaging businesses and cars in Wentzville and St. Charles County. He had been on probation after pleading guilty to those crimes in 2011. Scott has pleaded guilty to 13 charges in less than two years. The longest sentence is 10 years, and the sentences will be served concurrently. Scott pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, and St. Charles Circuit Court Judge Richard Zerr sentenced him to seven years in prison. A St. Charles County man hit his former landlord with a car outside his former residence Monday, a St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy said. John R. Davit, 66, was charged Tuesday with first-degree trespassing and third-degree assault. A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said Davit had been recently evicted from his residence in the first block of Jackson Place in St. Charles County near First Capitol and Highway 364. The deputy said Davit was warned by the property owner and law enforcement to stay off the property. A man is accused of a second assault on a St. Charles County prisoner within the last year. Steven T. Scott, 20, of the 400 block of Houston Street in St. Charles, was charged Feb. 8 with third-degree assault. An investigator said Scott punched another inmate in the head eight to 10 times without provocation Jan. 28 at the St. Charles County Justice Center, 200 North Second St. in St. Charles. Scott, 20, attacked another inmate in the St. Charles County Justice Center, 200 North Second St., on April 5.
