Friendly Dog Has Graduated Obedience Classes

Check out these pets available for adoption.

Angel was rescued by a Heartland volunteer over two years ago. She found a wonderful home with people who cared about her very much and were devastated to return her when their living circumstances changed. Angel is a Husky/Shepherd mix. She weighs about 60 pounds and is three years old. Angel is crate and house trained. Friendly Beagle Looks For A New Home

"Minnie," a 1 1/2 year old beagle/hound mix loves to explore.

Five Acres Animal Shelter: Diva is a gorgeous 10 year old female who is looking for a nice quiet home to call her own. She enjoys napping in a comfy bed and bird watching from the windows. She is often overlooked at the shelter since she is somewhat older than most of the cats. She hopes the Easter Bunny brings me a home to call her own! She will make a great companion for a busy person that would like companionship, but won’t require constant attention. She'll nap when you’re away and greet you when you come home! St. Charles Animal Control Will Host Holiday Adoption Event

Meramec, Zeus, Lucy and Chris are looking for homes.

Santa will be stationed at St. Charles Animal Control from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for the annual holiday adoption event.  Last year, 13 animals were adopted during the holiday event, though more than 50 people came through to look at the pets, said Animal Control Officer Cindy Saeuberlich.  The animal shelter has a variety of dogs and cats available. Saeuberlich said she recommends people not give an actual pet as a gift for the holidays unless it's a family gift. Sometimes people want to pick out a new kitten for Aunt Linda, but that's not a good idea, she said.  "What if they don't mix?" she said. "Now they're going to bring the animal back." For that reason, the animal shelter doesn't allow people who are under 18 to adopt pets …
