Principal Darlene Jones said the library media center is very popular with students, the world language courses have sister schools in Europe and make yearly trips, and the Knights of Excellence program supports the school and builds spirit.
"I believe we care about our students and have a phenomenal environment here at North," Jones said.
Jefferson Intermediate School serves all of the fifth and sixth grade students in the St. Charles School District.…More Principal Kim Harris describes an intermediate school as an upper elementary school. Students spend most of the time with two teachers instead of seeing up to seven in one day. "This allows students to more easily find a place to belong," she said.
In addition to daily physical education classes, students have time to play after lunch in the breezeway. Students also have 90 minutes of math instruction each day, as well as time for students who are behind to get extra help.
"We have an increased focus on reading, writing and mathematics," she said.
The district's administrative center is located in the former Benton Elementary School, which opened in 1896. The…More administration moved into the school in 2008 after the elementary school was closed.
The superintendent's office, finance, human resources, student services, curriculum and technical services departments are located in the administrative center.
