I went here for lunch with out of town guests. The lunch menu was very limited and when we attempted to order, they were 'out of' most of the menu items. We all ended up getting chicken salad sandwiches. The service was also very poor.

The Mother-In-Law House Restaurant is located on historic Main Street and has been serving food here since 1981. Set in a building that was built in 1866 and dubbed as the first brick double house, this restaurant has a quaint indoor setting along with a gorgeous tree-covered outdoor patio with a view of the Missouri River. It serves lunch and dinner with a three hour lull in between. The menu offers items such as the half-pound burger, the Mother-In-Law combo of half a sandwich and choice of salad, soup or french fries, chicken cordon bleu, filet mignon and stuffed flounder. The Mother-In-Law House is one of my favorite....Donna's blueberry muffins are the best and if you have never tasted her coconut cream pie...you are really missing a treat. Always good and always a relaxing evening.
I have eaten here many times and the food is always excellent!! The owners even stayed open later when we showed up close to closing time to help us celebrate a special occasion. Great atmosphere and personal attention.

We ate there for a Christmas Dinner and it was on a Saturday night. They were out of filets by 6 pm. I think the owner is getting very sparse with her servings and we were not very happy since it is quite pricey. You are only allowed two muffins. There are many nicer and much cheaper restaurants on Main Street that I would suggest before going back to MIL House. Used to much better.
