Share Your Strength: Volunteer Fair Planned for Sept. 15

St. Charles Community Council will host a volunteer fair at Spencer Road Library Branch.

Community members will have a chance to explore different ways of contributing to the community at a volunteer fair scheduled for Sept. 15. 

The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at , will feature about 40 different organizations who are in need of volunteers.

"It's a one stop place to come interview different organizations and find out what they do and find out how you might be able to use your skills there," said Mary Hutchison, Executive Director of St. Charles Community Council

"Not only will people come and be able to visit, we've got some extra curricular activities that will engage their minds around what they want to do," she said.

Attendees will be able to fill out a survey before they walk into the fair that will help them think about what kinds of things they are passionate about.

"It's a teaser to figure out what things to think about when you talk to folks," she said.

The event will include two breakout sessions. At 9:30 a.m., Greg Coffey, a corporate volunteer team facilitator for LMI Aerospace, will speak about different ways businesses can engage their employees with volunteering. 

Life coach Carol Watson will talk about things to think about when you decide how to invest your time when you are retired or about to retire. Watson will speak at 10:30 a.m.
