Gospel Inspires Volunteer to Give Back Five Days a Week

Joe Morris, 82, didn't enjoy golf or fishing or watching TV, so when he retired he had to find a new way to spend his time.

Joe Morris, of Wentzville, volunteers nearly each day of the week. When he retired he found he didn't enjoy golf or fishing or watching TV much and wanted a way to fill his time.

Morris, 82, volunteers with several organizations, including St. Patrick Catholic School and Pathways Community Hospice, spending nearly each day of the week with a different group of people.

"I'm prompted by holy scripture," he said. "The gospel of Matthew chapter 25 tells us to do for others, to feed them and to clothe them and to take care of them. This is what prompts me to do this kind of work."
