Great Rivers National Public Lands Day

Volunteers Needed By Greenway Network   Great Rivers National Public Lands Day, (http://www.publiclandsday.org/) part of a nationwide public service day will be held on Saturday September 24th from 9a.m. to 1 p.m. on public lands at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.  The USACE Riverlands, Jones State Park, USFW Cora Island Refuge and Great Rivers Greenway’s West Alton trail will be the sites of this effort to enhance our public lands.  The service day will include trash cleanups, plantings, trail work and invasive species removal.  You can support Great Rivers National Public Lands Day by calling (314-402-5233) or e-mailing (mailto:gregpoleski@yahoo.com) your reservations to join a work party.  Drinks, snacks and necessary equipment for the cleanup will be supplied.  T-shirts will be given to all volunteers.  Your help is badly needed due to cuts to our parks budgets. Other volunteer opportunities will be available the following weekends during the fall of this year to plant trees in the Confluence area.
