ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – The St. Charles County Highway Department will open a temporary crossing in place of the Hopewell Road Bridge by noon on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. The temporary crossing will reopen the road to through traffic and will be in place for approximately nine months while a new permanent bridge is designed and constructed.

The Hopewell Road Bridge is approximately 0.5 miles south of Highway N and 0.3 miles north of Diehr Road. The Highway Department closed the Hopewell Road Bridge on Friday, March 7, 2014, due to deterioration found in the support beams. The deterioration was not an immediate threat to drivers but analysis indicated the time had come to start the process of removing and replacing the bridge.
