Public Hearing on Transportation Projects to be held June 9

St. Charles County, Missouri - St. Charles County will hold a Public Hearing on transportation projects to be funded by a proposed ¾ cent statewide sales tax on Monday, June 9, at 7 p.m., in conjunction with the County Council Meeting. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at the Executive Office Building, 100 N. Third St., St. Charles.

The state legislature passed a resolution to send a ¾ cent statewide transportation sales tax proposal to the voters on the November ballot. Governor Jay Nixon decided instead to put this measure on the August ballot. The ballot question must include a statewide list of transportation projects to be funded by the proposed tax, which resulted in the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) immediate need for a draft list for the St. Louis region, including St. Charles County. Once notified about this need on May 28, St. Charles County had to submit a preliminary project list to the East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) by 5 p.m. on May 30. After submitting the required preliminary list, St. Charles County was notified on June 2 that MoDOT requested a revision.
