Discovering the World through GIS: Geographic Information Systems Day returns to St. Charles County Nov. 19

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – There's more to GIS than your GPS! St. Charles County’s Information Systems Department will host GIS Day on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Charles County’s Administration Building, 201 N. Second St., Suites 115-116, St. Charles. The event is free and open to the public, no reservations required.

GIS Day is celebrated worldwide and provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society. During GIS Day, attendees will learn about how GIS is used in emergency response, social and health services and administration to make life better in St. Charles County. The event, which features lectures, demonstrations, a map gallery and more, is designed for county residents, government employees, and students to:

  • Show how county and city governments use GIS to make better decisions
  • Learn about opportunities for studying GIS at local colleges and universities
  • Discover how this technology is affecting and can benefit all citizens

GIS Day presenters and vendors currently include: St. Charles County Information Systems Department – GIS Services; St. Charles County Assessor; St. Charles County Highway Department; City of St. Charles Community Development; City of St. Charles Police Department; City of St. Charles Public Works; City of St. Peters; City of O’Fallon; City of Lake St. Louis; City of Wentzville; Duckett Creek Sewer District; ESRI; and Seiler Instruments.
