County Director of Workforce Development Receives Honor from St. Louis Small Business Monthly

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – Don Holt, Director of Workforce Development for St. Charles County and Director of the Missouri Career Center of St. Charles County, was selected as one of St. Louis Small Business Monthly’s (SBM) “Top 100 St. Louisans to Know to Succeed in Business.” According to a release from SBM, Holt is one of 100 individuals selected based on “efforts, contributions and experiences giving back and helping business owners reach their dreams.”

“This award is an honor not just for me but for the Workforce Development department,” said Holt. “Working with the business community, especially the small business community, is an important and vital part of what we do at the Career Center.”

Holt has served as Director of Workforce Development for St. Charles County and Director of the Missouri Career Center of St. Charles County since 2002. In his role, Holt directs, manages and administers the activities, operation, staff and budget of the Workforce Development department and Missouri Career Center. Prior to his current position, he served as the Director for the Division of Workforce Development for St. Louis County, Adjunct Professor for Webster University, and as a Program Manager, County Director, Supervisor, Case Analyst, and Caseworker with the Missouri Division of Family Services. Holt received his Master’s Degree in Public Policy Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.

Holt’s professional and community activities include serving on St. Charles County’s Master Plan Task Force on Economic Development, St. Louis City and County’s Private Industry Councils, United Way Task Force on Literacy, the Economic Development Council of St. Charles County Roundtable, YWCA-Head Start Policy Council – St. Louis County, St. Louis City Adult Basic Education Advisory Board, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and National Association of Workforce Boards. He has served on the boards of the Northeast Community Action Corporation, Manufacturing Skills Institute of St. Charles County, and St. Charles County Community Housing Corporation. He is also past Chair of the Training and Employment Administrators of Missouri and has held various offices through the Kiwanis Club of Harvester, MO, including President and District Lieutenant Governor. Holt is also a frequent presenter and panel participant at professional conferences.

SBM will feature all 100 honorees in their Special April “Top 100” edition. All honorees will also be recognized at a luncheon on April 8 at the St. Charles Convention Center.
