Warriors Win Rainy Contest Against Rival St. Charles High

This crosstown showdown goes to St. Charles West as they win at St Charles, 49-13.

On a night that brought classic football weather, traveled to for another showdown with its crosstown rival.

The bragging rights went home with the visiting Warriors (4-0, 4-0) as St. Charles West scored early and often and came away with a 49-13 win. 

With temperatures in the 60s and a steady rain that brought out the umbrellas and jackets, both teams did their best to hold on to the football. It proved to be hard to do and on the second play of the game, St. Charles (0-4, 0-4) fumbled on its own 17-yard line. Three plays later, West ran it up the middle for a touchdown and never looked back.

After a short drive by the Pirates, the Warriors took possesion and scored on a 64-yard touchdown pass at the 5:28 mark in the first quarter. In their next possesion, St. Charles tried to rebound with a 42-yard pass completion, but fell short of the goal line and the Warriors took control of the game.

St. Charles scored 24 seconds before the half on an 18-yard pass play but West went to the locker room with a comfortable 21-7 lead.

After a halftime show by the St. Charles band and Danceline Dancers in the rain, the Pirates took the field to start the second half. Following a failed onside kick, St Charles West pounded the ball up the middle and scored on a 5-yard run. West added another touchdown run and interception for a TD before the Pirates scored again.

The Warriors are on the road again next week when it takes on Duchesne. The Pirates will remain at home and face Washington.
