St. Charles Torch Run Helps Open Show-Me State Games

St. Charles County sends the most athletes in the state to the Olympic-style competition in Columbia.

The Show-Me State Games, an Olympic-style competition for amateur athletes in Missouri, kicked off its 29th season with Torch Runs in several cities. 

On Tuesday, St. Charles held its leg of the run, sending out a symbolic group of runners in Frontier Park after a ribbon cutting and a cannon shot start from the Milicia de San Carlos.

St. Charles County sends the largest contingency of participants to the annual Show-Me State Games in Columbia, which are the largest state games in the United States.

The athletes will participate in more than 40 sporting events for people of all ages and ability levels. The sports included range from swimming, gymnastics and track and field to bowling and kickball.
