The bronze statue depicting Brock's famous pop-up slide was designed by St. Louis sculptor Harry Weber. Weber said he had to watch tape of Brock's slide so he could sketch the statue, he wasn't able to find a photo of the move.

Brock said he hopes that students will be inspired to work hard when they walk past the statue. "One of the greatest attributes in competition is to be able to outlast your opponent," he said. "If you can't outlast your opponent, you'll be in second place."
