Lindenwood Beats Northern Colorado in First Game of the Season

Team plays Graceland next week at 6 p.m.

James Neal kicked a 21-yard field goal as time expired to lift Lindenwood to a 22-20 upset of Northern Colorado on Saturday in Greeley.    

The Lions trailed 20-19 with 1:10 remaining before quarterback John Uribe led them on the game-winning drive. Uribe hit five successive passes in the final minute. A 44-yard kickoff return by Andrew Helmick started the comeback.    

Denodus O'Bryant led the winning attack with 142 total yards including 65 on the ground.

Lindenwood (1-0) amassed 447 total yards. Uribe hit O'Bryant on a 71-yard scoring toss early in the final period to give the Lions a 19-13 lead. Uribe threw for 294 yards.    

Northern Colorado is an NCAA Division I FCS school. Lindenwood, a former NAIA school, is in a transition season on the way to NCAA Division II status.
