GAC Swimming and Diving Championship Kicks Off at Rec Plex

St. Charles County teams compete in the event that spans three days at the St. Peters Rec Plex.

Fort Zumwalt West Senior swimmer Michelle Tipton led her team to win two relays and earned two first place spots in the preliminaries of the GAC Swimming and Diving Championships Monday. 

Fort Zumwalt West team of freshman Evyn Spencer, junior Aly Coleman, sophomore Courtney Coe and Tipton had the top time in the preliminaries women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.37. Tipton, Spencer, freshman Liz Lay and senior Lexi Webb took the top slot in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:46.89 split. 

Tipton took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle swim, with a time of 1:58. 26 - out pacing Megan Hampson, a Francis Howell North freshman, who took second with 2:08.66 minute race. 

Tipton's time of 5:09.80 in the 500 yard freestyle set a new  GAC record for the event. 

The finals are scheduled for Thursday. 

Duchesne High School

Duchesne High School senior Moira Smyth will compete Thursday in the finals for the 100 yard backstroke and the 200 yard freestyle. 

The team of Smyth, junior Sarah Jackson, sophomore Sophie Lamzik and junior Madelaine Scheckel will swim the women's 400 yard freestyle relay.

Swimmers freshman Brianne Hollandsworth, sophomore Tabi Jost, junior Grace Martinez and sophomore Alyson Schroeder will swim in the finals for the 200-yard freestyle relay. 

St. Charles West High School

Senior Julie Smith, freshman Maddy Martin, senior Julie Friem and sophomore Sarah Duncan will compete in the 400-yard freestyle relay. 

Freshman Maddy Martin, junior Lauren Sullivan, sophomore Sarah Duncan, senior Julie Friem will swim in the 200-yard medley relay.  

Senior Julie Smith will compete in 500-yard freestyle contest.

The team of junior Chelsea Ermeling, junior Lauren Sullivan, freshman Hannah Casagrande, senior Paige Goellner will compete in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Sophomore Sarah Duncan plans to swim in the 100-yard butterfly. Senior Paige Goellner is an alternate in that race.

St. Charles High School

The team of sophomore Mickie Plummer, freshman Carley Johansson, Senior Victoria Hart, freshman Kaelyn Creley will swim in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Johansson will swim the 200-yard freestyle race. 

St. Charles freshman Kaelyn Creley, junior Erin Roseman, freshman Savannah Brown, Sophomore Mickie Plummer.

Plummer, freshman Jenn Adair, senior Victoria Hart and freshman Kaelyn Creley will swim the 400-yard freestyle relay.
