Duchesne, Orchard Farm, St. Charles West Advance in Football Playoffs

Duchesne will play Orchard Farm and St. Charles West takes on University City Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Ten weeks of the season have gone by, and now the field has been narrowed.

Week 10 eliminated half the teams from State title contention. Now Round 2 of the District playoffs continue.

Duchesne vs. Orchard Farm

  • When: 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31
  • Where: Duchesne
  • How'd they get here: Duchese knocked off Sumner 48-8; Orchard Farm beat Winfield 41-6

After two blowouts in the opening round of the Class 3, District 5 tournament, two St. Charles-area schools will be facing off in Round 2. Duchesne, after beating Sumner 48-8, enters the game with a 6-4 record. The Pioneers have scored 255 points this year and have only given up 112 points.

Orchard Farm, is 7-3 on the year after its beat down of Winfield in Week 10. The Eagles have scored 294 points in 10 game this year, and like the Pioneers have been stingy on defense. Orchard Farm has given up just 128 points and had a shutout streak of three straight games earlier this season.

St. Charles West vs. University City

  • When: 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31
  • Where: Steve Stahl Stadium in St. Charles
  • How'd they get here: St. Charles West beat MICDS 33-28; University City beat Normandy 28-24

St. Charles West, the top seed in the Class 4, District 5 tournament, escaped with a win against MICDS last week. This week the Warriors, 7-3, will stay home to host University City. When the Warriors have been good, they have relied on offense to get the job done. West has scored at least 40 points four times this year, all wins. In fact, when West has scored more than 10 points this season is has won.

University City, 5-5, made it into the second round despite having a porous defense. In 10 games, the Lions gave up an average of 34.1 points per contest. Despite that, the Lions still managed to win five times by scoring an average of 24.4 fans a game this season.
