Area Players Named to All-State Football Team

Four Francis Howell players were named to the first team.

Francis Howell Vikings’ senior linebacker Calvin Munson has been named as the Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year by the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

The All-State teams were released last week, and a total of four Vikings took first-team honors, while two more were named to the second team.

Joining Munson on the first team were senior running back Donte Harrell, senior offensive lineman Jimmy Alloway, and senior defensive back Zac Perkins. Perkins was also named as the first team kicker.

Perkins’ season included a school-record 50-yard field goal.

Also on the second team were senior defensive lineman Donovan Walker and Jarrett Franklin, a senior defensive end who set a school record for most sacks in a single season with 21.

The Vikings made it to the Class 6 Championship game, the first St. Charles County team to make it to the State Finals in 30 years, where they lost 42-3 to Blue Springs.

            Linebacker Demetrius Bernard, Ft. Zumwalt West

            Offensive Line Ben Saint, Ft. Zumwalt West

            Defensive Back Justin Smith, Ft. Zumwalt South

            Linebacker Mason Burnett, Ft. Zumwalt East

            Athlete Chase Abbington (Running Back), Ft. Zumwalt South*

            Linebacker, Casey Bartee, St. Charles West

            Defensive Line, Ryan Rockow, St. Charles West

            Defensive Line, Isaiah Winkelmann, St. Dominic

            Linebacker, Connor Flagel, St. Dominic

 *Abbington was not named to the team as a running back, but as an athlete.
