Student Transfers: How Many In St. Charles Schools?

A handful of students have asked to transfer into St. Charles and Orchard Farm School Districts.

The Cooperating School Districts late Tuesday released preliminary figures showing a district by district breakdown of how many students had transferred from the Riverview Gardens and Normandy school districts.

  • In the St. Charles School District, a total of 10 students have requested transfers from the unaccredited districts. 
  • Three students have requested transfers to the Orchard Farm School District. 
  • The Francis Howell School District has 475 students who have requested transfers.
Those figures are not final. A little more than 300 students who did not get placed in their first, second or third choice districts are still in the process of getting placed.

In addition, KSDK and other news outlets are reporting that lawsuits could soon be filed to force Mehlville and Kirkwood, the districts identified by Riverview Gardens where transportation would also be provided, to accept all who requested a transfer.
