St. Charles Will Participate in Sales Tax Holiday Aug. 3-5

Back to school sales tax holiday offers residents a break from taxes on clothing, computers and school supplies.

is among the many cities in the state which will not collect sales tax on "back to school" items Aug. 3-5.

The state allows some cities to opt out of participating, which means retailers in those cities would charge local sales tax, but not state sales tax.

Shoppers will avoid paying state sales tax on clothing, personal computers and school supplies.
