●      Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: About 15,000 high school students who are the top scorers on a preliminary SAT test are recognized as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship. Adair learned she was named a finalist in February. She now is being considered for a merit scholarship award. About 8,500 students receive such an award. St. Charles High School Principal Jeff Walker told the Board of Education Feb. 10 that Adair had already been accepted to the University of Alabama, which is giving her a full scholarship, which includes tuition, room and board and additional $1,000 a year, plus money for a summer study abroad program.
