St. Charles West Graduates Smallest Class in Recent History

Students earned more than $2.6 million in scholarships.

Family and friends crowded into on Sunday to celebrate as seniors turned into alumni. 

The class of 2012 happened to be the smallest graduating class recent history of the school with 181 students. The school first opened in 1975 and . 

Although the class was small, there were 12 valedictorians: Tyler Afflick, Brittany Broder, Emily Brown, Jill Cutright, Brandy Davis, Steven Enke, Shelby Gross, Shannon McNamee, Brooke Prigge, Austin Rugraff, Sarah Shelburg, Brandi Van Booven.

As a group, the graduating class earned more than $2.6 million in scholarships. About 60 students graduated with honors and eight earned a Bright Flight scholarship.

  • 80 percent of graduates will either attend a tech school, community college (2-year school), or college (4-year school)
  • 3 percent will join the military
  • 8 percent will go to the work force
  • 9 percent were undecided
