Meet the School Board Candidate: Tim Bekebrede

St. Charles School Board Member Tim Bekebrede is hoping to retain his seat on the board on April 3.

Bekebrede is the only incumbent currently running for a spot. Member a few weeks ago he was dropping out of the race, although his name will still appear on the ballot.

Family:  Married to Terri Bekebrede, two childen - son Joe and daughter Erin

Education:  B.S. in Marketing from Southwest Missouri State

Occupation: Construction

Previous elected offices: City of St. Charles School Board

Applicable experience: Completed first term of City of St. Charles School Board

CANDIDATE QUESTIONS

What is the primary reason you are running for School Board? To give back to the community that I live in and the school district that myself and my family attended.

Tell us one goal you have if you get elected? To continue to work through the issues that we are dealing with during my current term.

What sets you apart from the other candidates, if contested? I have knowledge of the current issues that the Board is working through, and the experience of working with the current Board.  I think my background in construction and business is an asset.

As enrollment has declined in the district, at what point does it make sense to consider closing a high school? When high school enrollment is at 1,300? 1,500? Should there be a threshold? This is an issue that we are dealing with and trying to work through on the current board.  We will continue to make sure that every student in the St. Charles School District gets the best education possible. 

What's the biggest challenge facing the school district? Finances and the budget are the biggest challenges at this time.
