Project MEGSSS Now Accepting Nominations for Math-Talented 5th and 6th Graders, www.MEGSSS.org

For over 30 years, Project MEGSSS, a parent-run nonprofit organization in St. Louis, has been discovering, inspiring and developing the talents of middle school students with extraordinary gifts in mathematics. We offer "out of level" testing, summer and after-school programming that appeals to students who enjoy math and want to be seriously challenged by a broadened and accelerated course of mathematics, some of college caliber. Some of our recent graduates wrote back to tell us this:

"I like MEGSSS because they don't just tell you how to do something, they tell you why. And I like logic."

"MEGSSS has changed me. It opened my eyes to different math and showed me what I might expect in high school, college, or even later in life in my career."

"...In those three years [of MEGSSS] I learned just how far I could push myself as a student...Even the first year is hard because you’re teaching gifted kids who have been used to being right their entire lives. And then the first week everything changes for them, or at least it did for me. I went from hardly having to pay attention in class, to taking detailed notes...even with all this extra work I was exhilarated; finally I had teachers who could understand the way I thought....You really opened up the world of math to me that very first summer...Even though those three hours were hard to get through, when I did finally finish them I felt a huge sense of pride in myself...Your teaching brought back my love of math..."

Nominations can be made online at www.MEGSSS.org by either parents or educators. Nomination is a no cost way to receive information and be invited to attend a parent info meeting. Telephone inquiries can be made at 314.842.5968. E-mail contacts regarding nominations can be sent to nomination@megsss.org.
