“Champions aren´t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision.” - Muhammad Ali

Go for a walk Go for a walk. It is the best thing you can do. As a Candidate this was the best advice anyone could give me. Go up to a house, knock on the door, introduce yourself, and then listen.  This is what they said, "Even though in the rush of a campaign you may feel like you are a celebrity, it is not about you. The ones you visit briefly will tell you about themselves, who they are and what they do. They will tell you of their hopes, worries, and dreams. You will need this when you get elected."

I have noticed this campaign as I walk the neighborhoods there seems to be more homes in need of repair and care. Maybe it is the Hot brutal summer but I believe it is much more. From the lack of jobs, to having less money, to having a feeling of concern over our Federal Gov't's increasing intrusion and now more Taxes.

There was this one house I stopped at. It was much in need of repair. I did not think anyone lived there, and yet our list indicated the inhabitants voted regularly. The window screens were torn. The grass was all dead. The home needed a paint job. When I knocked on the door an old woman with a Big Smile answered. I began to introduce myself and hand her my material. She stopped me and said, "Oh honey I know who you are. I voted for you last November and you have my vote again. Thank you so much for everything you do. I met you at the Capitol this past spring when I was there for the Right To Life March. I remember you said you were 100% prolife and that was one area that you would not bend. Thank you for everything you do."

Despite the exterior condition of her home and as impoverished as you might think, this was not relayed in her eyes. The people inside are still the same caring Americans that were there just a few years ago.

Take a walk. You will become richer, wiser, and healthier. Take a walk. It will do your heart good in so many ways.
