Water Main Work To Close South Main Tuesday Night

Water service will be disconnected in the affected area.

The St. Charles Water Division will be replacing broken water main valves on South Main Street, weather permitting, on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18 and 19.

South Main will be closed to through traffic during that time.

Work is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Tuesday and end at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Pike Street will be closed until late Thursday, and water service will be disconnected from 523 South Main Street to 327 South Main Street, including Pike Street from South Second to South Main Street.

Residents and business owners have already been notified.

If any air or cloudy water is noticeable after repairs are complete, Water Division staff members recommend flushing a cold water faucet only (not hot) for approximately ten minutes.

A bath tub or an outside hose bib is the preferred method to flush.
