Storm Recovery Update: Debris Hotline Opened, Frontier Park Re-Opened

Families and businesses deal with the aftermath of the storms that ripped through the county May 31 and unrelenting rain that has pushed the Missouri well beyond its banks.

Recovery continues from the May 31 storms and from flooding brought on from spring rainstorms.

The City of St. Charles implemented a Storm Debris Hotline (636-255-6153) for St. Charles City residents needing assistance following last weekend’s storms. The message states:

Hello and thank you for calling the City of St. Charles’ storm debris hotline.  City staff members are in the process of obtaining bids in an effort to pick up vegetation storm debris resulting from weather episodes occurring the weekend of May 31, 2013.

If your household was affected, please ensure organic storm debris, including tree limbs, branches, shrubs and other yard vegetation, is cut to lengths of four feet or less and stack curbside for future pick up.

We will not include storm debris from personal property such as shingles, siding, drywall, tiles and other similar products.  Only organic, vegetation debris will be properly collected and disposed of by the City free of charge.

Please note if you’re currently contracting with a local tree-trimming company, it is that company’s responsibility to remove and properly dispose storm debris on your behalf.

Otherwise, the City will contract to remove remaining storm debris sometime the week of June 17 or June 24 depending upon contractor availability.

In the meantime, to ensure this one-time pick up service, please provide your namestreet address and telephone number at the sound of the tone.

Many thanks for calling, as together we’ll work to get our City back in tip-top shape!

Mayor Faith will initiate a robo-call to residents sometime this week when a definitive date is set  This one-time pick up will be free for residents citywide, and will be geared towards vegetation debris only.

Starting Saturday, June 8, the St. Charles County Highway Department started receiving help from DRC Emergency Services, LLC to remove tree debris in the affected areas.

DRC will be utilizing 10 trucks which are larger than the County's trucks.

The 10 trucks that DRC will utilize for the cleanup process are quite a bit larger than the County's trucks. St. Charles County is requesting that residents be aware of the size and space the trucks will take, and to avoid parking on the streets to facilitate tree debris pickup.

Frontier Park re-opened on June 6 and the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center reopened at 10 a.m. the following morning.

The Family Arena reported on their Facebook Page that their storm damage was addressed and that there would be no further postponements.
